OpenAI’s New ‘Physical AI’ Device Made in Collaboration With Jony Ive to Begin Mass Production in 2027?

This update originally comes from the Analyst – Ming-Chi Kuo (received via @BenGeskin) and as per what has been shared, OpenAI x Jony Ive’s AI device could enter its mass production in 2027. Furthermore, it has been mentioned that the assembly and shipping of this device are probably going to take place outside China – with Vietnam as the most likely assembly location.

About the design of this device, the current prototype is revealed to be slightly larger when compared with Humane’s AI Pin, and features an Apple iPod Shuffle-like elegant and compact form factor build (however changes are expected prior to mass production).

Speaking of its use case, it is supposed to be worn around the neck and will have both cameras and microphones on it, which will help in environment detection. To note, the device won’t have any sorts of displays on it, and is believed to connect with smartphones or PCs to rely on the display as well as computing functionalities.

So far, the tech world does not expect much from this particular product and collaboration following the failure of Humane AI Pin – a similar product. We will however have to wait to find out more about the upcoming device and let’s see how OpenAI plans to meet the consumer demands and expectations.
